Depression and anxiety in teens, LGBTQ+, CV, CBT
My name is Dawn, and I am a proud native Texan, but love the beauty of Wyoming. I found my passion in Psychology as a junior in High School. After some life interruptions, I received my Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from Dallas Baptist University in Dallas, Texas. I then attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, receiving a Master’s of Arts in Professional Counseling. I have since completed coursework for a PsyD in Criminology and Justice Studies through University of the Rockies, Colorado Springs, Colorado, only needing to complete the dissertation process.
My heart has always been drawn to help those hurting or struggling with life’s challenges. Some of my own life challenges have allowed me some insight to others’ challenges, and I am grateful to be able to draw on my challenges to help someone else. I especially enjoy working with teens, young adults, victims of Domestic Violence, and those in the LGBTQ+ community. I also have 10+ years personal experience with the gastric surgery process, and have done preliminary assessments for Doctors in Casper. Having personal experience with the process gives me a first-hand understanding that enables me to help both potential gastric patients, as well as current gastric patients. Helping clients to use their personal skills, which they may not even know they have, is a very rewarding experience, and seeing clients empowered by their own abilities is exciting!
I have raised two grown sons, a beautiful daughter-in-law, and an adorable grand-cat and amazing grand-dog. I love animals, and hope to have a service dog at some time to help clients be more comfortable through the counseling process. Embarking on a counseling journey can be a wee bit scary – exploring options of therapists is the first step!
