CLIENT FEEDBACK
A few words about our services from our clients
Seeking Professional Help Is Not a Weakness
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How Can I Find Affordable Mental Health Counseling Near Me?
A: We believe mental health care should be accessible. We offer options to help reduce barriers to treatment, including:
- Reduced-rate services for qualifying clients
- Insurance billing for many plans
- Telehealth options to reduce travel time and costs
- Referrals to community resources when appropriate
There are also community mental health centers that may offer grant-funded or state-supported services. If cost is a concern, please contact us, and we will help explore options.
Q: What Mental Health Services Accept Insurance Coverage?
A: Many of our services may be covered by insurance, depending on your specific plan and benefits. Covered services often include individual therapy, family therapy, couples counseling, psychiatric medication management, telehealth sessions, and certain assessments or evaluations.
Coverage varies by insurance company and policy. Specialty Counseling & Consulting, LLC wants to help ensure you can receive services no matter what insurance coverage and payment options you have available. SCC accepts most insurance plans at its different locations. However, just because a plan is listed does not mean you are covered. It’s important you contact your insurance provider to verify your coverage and cost before you seek services. Insurances accepted include:
Medicaid, Medicare, Cigna, BCBS, Tri-Care, UMR/UHC, United, Aetna, Beacon (Carelon), ACI Specialty Benefits, Mertain, TriWest – VA Patients, ComPysch, All One Health, Mountain Health, First Choice, UC Health, Simplified Benefits, Carelon, ComPysch EAP, Tri-West, Optum, Mines & Associates, Acentra (Kepro), Living Well, and ESI.
If you don’t see your insurance provider listed above or have additional questions, please contact our billing office at 307-426-4797. Our administrative team can help verify benefits and explain your options before starting services.
If you do not have insurance, please contact our office for more information. We can most likely work something out that fits your situation. Everyone deserves to have access to the help they need.
Q: Can I Get Mental Health Care Through Telehealth Providers?
A: Yes. Our providers offer telehealth services for many counseling and psychiatric needs.
Telehealth can be a great option for:
- Adults and adolescents
- Busy families
- Individuals with transportation barriers
- Clients in rural communities
- Ongoing therapy and follow-up appointments
While virtual care can be effective for people of all ages, it is often especially helpful for adolescents and adults. Our team can help determine if telehealth is the best fit for your situation.
Q: How Do I Choose Between In-person and Online Therapy?
A: Both in-person and online therapy can be effective. The best choice depends on your comfort, schedule, and treatment needs.
In-person therapy may be best if you:
- Prefer face-to-face connection
- Benefit from being in a dedicated therapeutic space
- Need structured separation from home distractions
Online therapy may be best if you:
- Have a busy schedule
- Prefer convenience and flexibility
- Live in a rural area or have transportation challenges
- Feel more comfortable meeting from home
Many clients also choose a hybrid option when available.
Q: How Do I Get Started with Services?
A: Getting started is simple. Contact our office by phone or through our website, and our team will guide you through the intake process. We will help match you with a provider based on your needs, preferences, availability, and insurance.
Q: Do You Offer Services for Children, Teens, and Families?
A: Yes. We provide services for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Our clinicians work with a wide range of concerns, including behavior challenges, anxiety, trauma, parenting support, family conflict, and life transitions.
Q: What approach does Specialty Counseling take when working with families?
A: Specialty Counseling & Consulting is dedicated to serving youth and families in the community.
Our approach is to be involved personally with families and individuals but not be invasive; to be comprehensive in treatment, but not complicated or confusing. We believe answers often come after changing the small but important things in our lives. Although those changes can be difficult, we provide support and guidance. We also believe that it is not only important to provide quality services to families, but equally important to provide such services as openly and conveniently as possible to clients.
We do not attempt to “fix” families or individuals, nor do we see ourselves as the sole “experts.” Instead, we use a joint approach and work with clients to design goals and a counseling approach that we can all take ownership in. We can provide counseling to you either at our offices, or within the context of your home or community.
Q: What Group Therapy Do Uou Currently Offer and How Do I Join One?
A: We offer group therapy for a wide range of needs and life stages. Current groups may include:
- Substance use recovery groups
- Anger management groups
- Creative art therapy groups
- Parenting skills groups
- Social skills groups for individuals with developmental disabilities
- Tween life-skills groups
- Adolescent DBT groups for emotion regulation and coping skills
Each group is led by trained clinicians or specialists and includes clear goals, confidentiality expectations, and practical tools members can use outside of sessions.

To join a group, contact our office and we can help determine which group is the best fit for your needs.
Q: How Do I Know if Group Therapy is Right for Me?
A: Group therapy can be a powerful and supportive treatment option. It may be right for you if you:
- Feel comfortable participating in a small group setting
- Want support from others facing similar challenges
- Are open to listening, sharing, and receiving feedback
- Want to build communication, coping, or relationship skills
- Benefit from learning in a structured environment
Many people find that group therapy helps reduce feelings of isolation while building confidence and connection. If you are unsure, our team can help determine whether group, individual therapy, or a combination of both would be best for you.
Q: How Do You Treat Mood Disorders Like Depression and Bipolar Disorder?
A: We believe every client is unique, so treatment begins by meeting you where you are. Our providers work collaboratively with clients to create an individualized treatment plan based on symptoms, goals, and personal strengths.
Treatment may include:
- Individual therapy
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Coping skills and emotional regulation strategies
- Lifestyle support and routine building
- Medication management when appropriate
- Ongoing support and progress monitoring
At Specialty Counseling & Consulting, both psychotherapy and psychiatric medication services are available, allowing for a coordinated approach to care when needed.
Q: What Types of Therapy are Best for Trauma, Anxiety, or Depression?
A: The best therapy depends on your needs, symptoms, history, and goals. We offer evidence-based approaches such as:
- EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for trauma
- CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) for anxiety, depression, and negative thinking patterns
- DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) for emotion regulation and distress tolerance
- ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) for values-based living and emotional flexibility
- Trauma-informed therapy approaches
- Solution-focused and supportive counseling
We work with you to determine the best fit and adjust treatment as you grow.
Q: What should I expect from my first visit?
A: We typically begin with a conversation about the following:
- What led you to contact us?
- What are you hoping for or expecting from the counseling process?
- What are some goals or changes you would like to see accomplished?
- What are some methods you have already tried in dealing with the issue or problem?
- Which methods have worked and which ones have not?
- What to bring to the first session?
Q: How Long Does Therapy Take?
A: Therapy length varies for each person. Some clients benefit from short-term counseling focused on a specific goal, while others choose longer-term support for deeper healing and growth. Your provider will regularly review progress and adjust treatment based on your needs.
Q: What Will I Need to Bring?
A: The following is information you will need to bring with you. This will help our initial evaluation go as smoothly as possible:
- Date of Birth
- Social Security Number
- Your private insurance or Medicaid card
- Contact Information (phone numbers and physical address)
- Psychological or Psychiatric evaluations done within 1-2 years (if any)
It would also be very helpful to fill out the intake form and bring it with you. Click here to download the form that you can print out.
Q: What types of certifications do your counselors have?
A: Our counseling team consists of highly qualified professionals who hold both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in relevant fields. They are licensed clinical therapists and case managers, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide effective mental health support. Additionally, our clinic is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), which reflects our commitment to maintaining high standards of care and service quality.
Q: Is Counseling Confidential?
A: Absolutely, yes! Counseling is confidential, with some legal and ethical exceptions such as safety concerns, abuse reporting requirements, or court orders. Your provider will review confidentiality and answer any questions during your first appointment. We are bound by clinician/client confidentiality and HIPAA rules and Regulations.
Q: How Do I Get in Contact With the Corporate Compliance Officer?
A: We hope you are receiving quality services from SCC. However, in the event you have a formal complaint, please reach out to our Human Resources Director, Brandi Jones, via email at hr@specialtycounseling.com.
