Recovery is not a destination; it’s an ongoing journey that requires support, accountability, and practical tools for navigating the everyday challenges life throws our way. Specialty Counseling & Consulting Fort Collins is excited to offer new services for individuals seeking structured treatment. We help you while you maintain your work, school, or family responsibilities. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides the ideal balance between flexibility and comprehensive care.

Our Fort Collins location is now LADDERS approved! LADDERS is a system that the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) uses to manage behavioral health services for the State of Colorado. This means we can now offer an array of new substance abuse services in-house. These include IOP groups, substance abuse evaluations (ASI), and level 1 ASAM treatment.

Our IOP groups meet Monday, Tuesday & Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM beginning June 29, 2025. Offering individuals ages 18+ a supportive environment where they can strengthen their recovery, build healthy coping skills, and connect with others who understand the challenges of maintaining sobriety and emotional wellness. Our evening groups allow you to actively work on your recovery, without putting your life on hold.

What Is Intensive Outpatient Treatment?

IOPs provide more support than traditional weekly counseling sessions while allowing participants to continue living at home and engaging in their daily responsibilities. IOP is often recommended for individuals transitioning from residential treatment. It is also recommended for those requiring additional support to maintain recovery or anyone seeking a structured therapeutic environment to address substance use and mental health concerns. Participants attend multiple therapy sessions each week, allowing them to receive consistent support and guidance from our experienced staff and their peers.

What to Expect in Group Therapy

Here at SCC, our IOP groups are designed to provide a combination of education, skill-building, and therapeutic processing. Each session may include:

Recovery Focused Education

Participants learn about the recovery process, relapse prevention strategies, triggers, cravings, and the science of addiction. Understanding these concepts helps individuals develop a stronger foundation for long-term recovery.

Coping Skills Development

Recovery requires practical tools for managing stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and everyday stressors that can throw a wrench in your recovery. Group members learn evidence-based coping skills that can be applied immediately outside of sessions.

Mental Health Support

Many individuals in recovery also face challenges related to mental health. Group discussions often explore topics such as emotional regulation, self-esteem, trauma, mindfulness, communication, and healthy boundaries.

Peer Connection and Support

One of the most meaningful aspects of group therapy is the opportunity to connect with others who share similar experiences. Participants gain encouragement, accountability, and insight from peers who understand the realities of recovery.

Processing & Personal Growth

Group therapy provides a safe and confidential space to process challenges, celebrate successes, receive feedback, and explore personal growth and goals. This process helps individuals develop self-awareness and confidence as they continue their recovery journey.

Finding Healing Through Connection

Healing rarely happens in isolation. Recovery thrives when people have access to support, accountability, and meaningful connections. We do this through structured group therapy, evidence-based interventions, and peer support. Our intensive outpatient program helps individuals build the skills and confidence needed to maintain lasting recovery.

Whether you are beginning your recovery journey, stepping down from residential treatment, or seeking additional support, our IOP offers a welcoming and supportive environment where growth and healing can take place.
